Frequently asked questions.

Straight answers about Medicare, retirement insurance, and working with Dave.

Does it cost anything to work with you?

No. As an independent insurance agent, I'm compensated by the insurance carrier when you enroll in a plan — at no cost to you. My advice and guidance are completely free.

What's the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Medicare Supplement?

Medicare Advantage (Part C) replaces Original Medicare with a private plan — often including dental, vision, and drug coverage in one package. Medicare Supplements (Medigap) work alongside Original Medicare to cover the gaps like copays and deductibles. The right choice depends on your health needs, your doctors, and your budget. We help you compare both.

When can I change my Medicare plan?

Most plan changes happen during Annual Enrollment (October 15 – December 7). However, Special Enrollment Periods are triggered by life events — moving, losing employer coverage, or qualifying for Extra Help. Call me and I can tell you exactly when you're eligible.

What if I already have Medicare — can you still help me?

Absolutely. Many clients already have Medicare when we first connect. We review what you have, compare it to what's available now, and see if there's a better or more affordable fit — especially if your health needs or budget have changed.

I'm turning 65 soon. When should I contact you?

Ideally 3–6 months before your 65th birthday. There's an Initial Enrollment Period around your birthday, and missing it results in permanent late enrollment penalties. The earlier we talk, the more options you have.

Do you only work with people in Dayton?

I primarily serve Dayton, Troy, Trotwood, Sidney, New Carlisle, Vandalia, Kettering, and surrounding communities. Call or email and we'll figure out if I can help you.

What carriers do you work with?

Aetna, Anthem, Humana, Cigna, United Healthcare, MedMutual, Manhattan Life, and others. Being independent means I'm not locked into one company — I find the best plan for you, not the best plan for my commission.

Is my personal information kept private?

Yes. Your information is used only to help find the right coverage for you. I do not sell or share your information with anyone.
